About the Role
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides overall financial leadership for the organization, ensuring financial strength, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability. This role oversees all aspects of finance, accounting, treasury, budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, financial planning and analysis, compliance, and risk management, partnering with executive leadership to drive profitable growth and strategic decision-making. The CFO plays a central role in evaluating capital investments, technology and AI initiatives, and ensuring financial rigor in all major business decisions. This is a highly visible leadership position balancing strategic planning with hands-on financial management in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the organization's financial strategy in alignment with corporate objectives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the President and executive leadership team.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations supporting strategic initiatives, acquisitions, capital investments, and long-range planning.
- Present financial performance, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to ownership and the executive leadership team.
- Provide leadership in the adoption of AI and emerging technologies to enhance business insights and deliver measurable improvements in workflow efficiency and automation.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.
- Develop meaningful financial models and business analytics that support informed decision-making.
- Monitor financial performance and proactively identify opportunities to improve profitability and cash flow.
- Establish and monitor key financial and operational performance metrics.
- Direct all cost accounting functions including standard costing, inventory valuation (FIFO/LIFO), variance analysis, labor efficiency, overhead allocation, and product profitability.
- Partner with Operations to identify cost savings, improve manufacturing efficiency, and optimize inventory investment.
- Analyze production costs, margins, and operational performance across all manufacturing locations.
- Support pricing strategies through financial analysis and cost modeling.
- Provide financial evaluations and ROI analyses for major technology investments, including ERP and AI initiatives.
- Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll oversight, financial reporting, and month-end/year-end close.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, banking requirements, and internal controls.
- Manage external audits, tax relationships, banking partnerships, insurance programs, and treasury functions.
- Maintain effective financial controls and corporate governance practices.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Build strong partnerships throughout the organization to ensure financial transparency and sound business decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior finance leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong expertise in cost accounting
- Strong expertise in financial planning & analysis
- Strong expertise in budgeting and forecasting
- Strong expertise in inventory management
- Strong expertise in cash flow management
- Strong expertise in manufacturing financial reporting
- Experience leading cross-functional teams
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience evaluating or utilizing ERP systems and AI-enabled technologies; Epicor Kinetic experience preferred.
- CPA and/or MBA preferred
- Experience in privately held or family-owned manufacturing companies preferred
- Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience preferred
