About the Role
As a Fleet Technician III, you will serve as a senior technician within the shop, performing advanced diagnostics, major component repairs, complex troubleshooting, and a wide range of maintenance and repair activities across our fleet. This role is responsible for helping maintain equipment reliability while supporting the shop's overall maintenance operation through independent decision-making, technical expertise, and problem solving. This position is ideal for an experienced diesel technician who enjoys diagnosing difficult issues, performing complex repairs, and working on a diverse mix of equipment and systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on tractors, trailers, and fleet equipment
- Diagnose and repair air brake, hydraulic, suspension, steering, HVAC, electrical, engine, and trailer systems
- Diagnose and repair advanced engine performance concerns
- Diagnose and repair DEF, DPF, SCR, and aftertreatment system faults
- Troubleshoot complex electrical issues, including CAN communication and module-related faults
- Perform major component repairs and replacements, including engines, transmissions, clutches, driveline components, and related systems
- Perform DOT inspections and compliance-related repairs
- Utilize diagnostic software and OEM systems to support troubleshooting and repairs
- Respond to road service needs and complex field repairs as required
- Provide technical support and guidance on challenging repairs within the shop
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Significant experience in diesel, fleet, truck, trailer, heavy equipment, agricultural, automotive, or related mechanical repair environments
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities
- Ability to independently perform complex repairs and determine root causes of equipment failures
- Experience with diesel engines, electrical systems, aftertreatment systems, and OEM diagnostic software
- Ability to work independently and safely in a team-oriented environment
- Valid New York State Driver License required
- CDL-A License preferred
- NYS Inspector License preferred
- HVAC/Refrigerant Certification preferred
