About the Role

The Youth Site Coordinator will develop, market, and implement educational and recreational programs for youth ages 11-19 at the In Control site. Responsibilities include planning and facilitating programming, monitoring youth workers, planning meals, and maintaining a safe and clean environment. The role involves communicating information about sexuality and adolescent issues and representing In Control and PPCWNY in the community.

Responsibilities

Foster a nurturing, supportive, and inclusive culture at In Control that empowers youth.
Coordinate engaging and relevant programming (social, recreational, educational) for youth and their families.
Create and distribute promotional materials (calendars, fliers, posters) and manage social media.
Maintain community outreach with agencies and groups to promote activities.
Represent PPCWNY professionally in the community to increase program participation.
Provide linkage and referral for youth to educational, social, emotional, vocational, and health services.
Coordinate daily snacks and/or meals.
Maintain a clean and safe environment, including general site upkeep.
Assist in monitoring youth staff accountability.
Maintain records for programming activities and submit reports.
Attend agency meetings, trainings, and in-services.
Meet deadlines for written reports and data entry.
Work effectively as a team member.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Show respect for all customers, valuing differences in backgrounds, lifestyles, viewpoints, and needs.

Requirements

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in health sciences, human services, psychology, sociology, communications, or public relations preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Alternatively, 3 years of work experience in a community educator role with cultural competence with a demographic population, or 2 years of work experience in a PPCWNY program with cultural competence with a demographic population.
1-2 years of experience overseeing and/or leading positive youth development programming preferred.
Knowledgeable of educational techniques involving group dynamics.
Comfortable with subjects of sexuality and youth-related issues.
Capable of working independently and cooperatively to meet established goals.
Demonstrated ability to relate well and establish rapport quickly with people, especially youth.
Experience building an inclusive and respectful organizational culture that leverages diversity.
Prior marketing/community relations experience desired.
Experience delivering care in ways that honor and respect LGBTQ communities.
Experience working with diverse racial and socio-economic populations strongly desired.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
Ability to travel to multiple sites, meetings, field trips, etc., as needed.
Excellent organizational skills; ability to plan and implement programs from the ground up.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Familiarity with Rochester neighborhoods and organizations.
Ability to use Microsoft Office for communication and social media platforms.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to facilitate teen groups and programs.
Sufficient mobility to perform essential functions with or without accommodation.
Ability to travel to all agency locations and donor/prospect locations.
