About the Role

The General Ledger Accountant ensures the completeness and accuracy of financial statements through the management, review, and analysis of accounting processes. This role requires technical accounting expertise, independent review, and judgment of general ledger accounts, along with providing thorough reporting and analysis on tasks and communicating findings to management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical and operational tasks of the monthly financial close activities, including general ledger maintenance, preparing journal entries, and verifying proper general ledger coding for accurate financial reporting.
  • Analyze balance sheet account fluctuations to identify risks and opportunities, providing insights to improve financial performance.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to review monthly P&Ls, perform variance analysis, investigate discrepancies, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Contribute to department and company initiatives to improve processes and translate their financial impact.
  • Manage US and CA statutory tax compliance filings and issues, including Sales and Use tax, SF gross receipts, and VAT, working with third-party advisors and internal tax teams.
  • Analyze sales and use tax data to ensure proper tax collection and reporting.
  • Communicate errors or discrepancies and assist in corrective actions.
  • Support internal/external audits and tax return preparation by gathering data, conducting analysis, and resolving issues.
  • Independently lead special, ad-hoc projects as needed.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting or related field.
  • Demonstrate high level of knowledge and understanding of GAAP.
  • Experience with accounting software/ERP systems.
  • Month end reconciliation and analysis.
  • Knowledge of technical accounting functions and experience in financial record keeping.
  • Experience with auditing financial statements and documents.
  • Prepare journal entries such as accruals and reclasses for month end/year end close.
