About the Role

Option Care Health is seeking a Director of Nursing to manage, administer, and coordinate nursing services in facilities with over 1800 patient visits per month. This role involves assisting with departmental planning, budget management, and ensuring a total quality management program for patient care. The Director of Nursing also supports Operations Leadership in achieving operational and financial goals.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the activities of the nursing department(s) for assigned location(s), overseeing work schedules and activities of nursing staff to meet patient care needs, maintain productivity standards, and control overtime.
  • Works with the Area Director of Nursing to implement and operationalize the centralized scheduling model in the area.
  • Ensures compliance with Company requirements and established standards of practice, federal and state regulations, accreditation standards, and agency policy.
  • Oversees the selection, development, and monitoring of nursing staff in assigned location(s).
  • Partners with the Nurse Manager and/or Nursing Supervisor on the supervision and evaluation of all nursing personnel providing direct patient care.
  • Directs all human resource issues related to nursing and allied health services personnel, including recruitment, performance evaluations, disciplines, and terminations.
  • Ensures all nurses providing care maintain professional standards of nursing practice and supports supply formulary compliance.
  • Assists Operations Leadership in preparing, securing approval for, and implementing operating and expenditure budgets for the department.
  • Operates within budget guidelines and coordinates patient services with internal and external departments.
  • Establishes and ensures the purchase and expedition of medical supplies and equipment within budget constraints.
  • Participates in assessing, managing, and reporting nursing operational and financial data to Operations Leaders.
  • Ensures each location has a process to collect and organize patient-specific information for home care suitability assessment.
  • Assesses patients’ suitability for home care in accordance with Option Care Health policies.
  • Provides continuing education to healthcare professionals on home care infusion-related issues.
  • Ensures each location has a process for on-call responsibilities for the nursing department.
  • Facilitates a clinical networking system for the agency and acts as a clinical resource.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with a license in the current state of practice.
  • At least 6 years of home health/infusion care experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a nursing leadership role within a home care setting.
  • Experience applying knowledge of local, State, Federal, accrediting body, and OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrates competency in the clinical management of home infusion patients.
  • Knowledgeable and competent in patient management skills including the nursing process.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of documentation and billing requirements for home health/infusion care goods and services.
  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects.
  • Experience in providing training and developing the clinical services process, documentation/user manuals.
  • Experience with planning, developing, and managing departmental expense and budgets.
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Word.
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Excel.
  • Basic skill level in Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • California based minimum requirements: BSN or bachelor’s degree in a health-related field with three (3) years of experience within the last five years in a home health agency, primary care clinic or health facility OR registered nurse with four (4) years of experience within the last five years in a home health agency, primary care clinic or health facility. One of these years of which was in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
