About the Role
The Merchandiser Coordinator is a working merchandising position responsible for executing all merchandising standards within assigned accounts while providing support to the Service Manager and serving as a resource for the merchandising team. This role maintains a regular merchandising route and performs all merchandising functions while assisting with onboarding, training, and coaching new merchandisers to ensure consistent execution of company standards, customer expectations, and best practices. The Merchandiser Coordinator acts as a field leader by helping communicate priorities, supporting team development, identifying operational opportunities, and promoting excellent customer service throughout the territory.
Responsibilities
- Execute company merchandising standards in all assigned accounts while maintaining a sense of urgency, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Ensure all authorized items are properly distributed, merchandised, and displayed in assigned accounts.
- Build, maintain, and enhance displays to maximize product visibility, availability, and sales opportunities.
- Monitor inventory levels, identify out-of-stock and low inventory situations, and communicate opportunities and concerns to Sales Representatives in a timely manner.
- Verify shelf pricing, tags, and point-of-sale materials are accurate and properly displayed.
- Install, maintain, and remove permanent and temporary point-of-sale materials in support of company and supplier promotional initiatives.
- Utilize company technology and reporting tools to accurately document daily activities, account conditions, execution results, photos, and surveys.
- Identify and communicate competitive activity, display opportunities, pricing concerns, and space changes within assigned accounts.
- Maintain product freshness through proper product rotation, code date management, and first-in/first-out inventory practices.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional appearance in customer accounts, stockrooms, coolers, and display areas.
- Operate safely at all times and comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and customer requirements.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with store personnel while representing the company in a professional and courteous manner.
- Effectively manage daily route assignments to ensure all scheduled accounts are serviced on time and according to company standards.
- Work as a team with delivery drivers and sales representatives to provide best possible customer service to all clients.
- Serve as a field resource and point of contact for merchandisers when assistance is needed.
- Communicate company initiatives, priorities, and merchandising expectations to team members.
- Provide feedback to the Service Manager regarding market conditions, operational challenges, and team performance.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve merchandising execution, route efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Help monitor compliance with company merchandising standards and procedures.
- Assist with onboarding and training new merchandisers.
- Provide in-field coaching and instruction on merchandising standards, display building, product rotation, technology systems, safety practices, and customer service expectations.
- Demonstrate proper merchandising techniques and best practices.
- Reinforce company policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
- Support ongoing development of merchandisers by providing guidance, feedback, and mentorship.
- Communicate training progress and development needs to the Service Manager.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Ability to read labels and comprehend various coding systems.
- Knowledge of database software; Internet software; order processing systems.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Must have reliable transportation to use to get to multiple work locations as directed throughout work day; and the vehicle must have the capacity to transport POS as needed.
- Excellent communication skills and people skills to be able to respond to any situation.
- Strong understanding of merchandising principles, display execution and retail best practices.
- Ability to train, coach and motivate team members.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds and frequently lift up to 30 lbs.
- The work environment is indoors but the employee is frequently required to work in a refrigerated atmosphere.
