About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Solution Architect to lead the design, scalability, resilience, and security of Bell's enterprise Elastic platform. This role will shape the technical direction of a multi-terabyte security analytics environment supporting SOC operations, threat detection, incident response, and compliance initiatives. Working across Elastic, Kafka, OpenShift/Kubernetes, Terraform, and Ansible, you will serve as the platform's technical authority, driving architecture decisions, mentoring senior engineers, and ensuring the platform remains secure, highly available, and ready for future growth.
Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the target architecture for the Elastic deployment, including cluster topology, data tiering, index and ILM strategy, cross-cluster search and replication, and capacity planning for multi-TB daily ingest.
- Design for resilience on OpenShift with ECK, covering upgrade strategy, disaster recovery, and high availability across data centers.
- Own the platform's security design, including authentication and RBAC, encryption, network segmentation, audit logging, and compliance requirements.
- Maintain the technical roadmap with the product owner, evaluating new Elastic features and licensing changes, and planning adoption.
- Set standards for index naming, data schemas (Elastic Common Schema), ingest patterns, and Terraform and Ansible code, and review major changes against them.
- Mentor senior engineers on the team and explain design decisions to security leadership and architecture boards.
- Lead root-cause analysis for platform performance or stability incidents.
Requirements
- 7+ years in infrastructure or data platform engineering, including 4+ years of hands-on Elastic work at scale, some as an architect or technical lead.
- Experience designing large multi-node Elasticsearch clusters, including sharding, tiering, ILM, performance tuning, and upgrades.
- Working knowledge of Kafka ingestion patterns, OpenShift or Kubernetes (ideally ECK), Terraform, and Ansible.
- Understanding of SOC data platform needs; experience supporting detection engineering or incident response is a plus.
- Experience in agile teams with CI/CD and operational responsibility.
- Ability to explain designs to engineers and CISOs, and defend decisions constructively.
- Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
