About the Role

New York Road Runners is seeking an adaptable, outgoing, motivated, and experienced RUNCenter Associate to support bib assignment/distribution, premium distribution, general runner inquiries, and day-to-day RunCenter operations. This role involves treating each runner with respect and dignity, finding solutions, and promoting the NYRR brand and mission. The position will be primarily based at the RunCenter but will also require support at larger NYRR events and other organizational events.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate passion and commitment to the New York Road Runners brand and core values.
  • Set the standard for excellence in customer service.
  • Participate in morning meetings or check in at the start of each shift to learn assigned roles and pertinent information.
  • Assign race bibs using NYRR registration system and distribute race premiums.
  • Track race premium inventory by performing daily inventory counts.
  • Assist with event set-up and day-to-day RunCenter Operations.
  • Assist runners with race registration, membership, and other transactions.
  • Keep records of customer interactions or transactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, or comments.
  • Act as a brand ambassador by creating a fun experience through positive runner interactions.

Requirements

  • 1 year Customer Service experience preferred.
  • Prior event, race day, or fitness experience is a plus but not required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Punctual and dependable with a strong work ethic.
  • Must be flexible, proactive, and organized.
  • Must be available to work weekends and all larger NYRR events: NYC United Half, RBC Brooklyn Half & TCS New York City Marathon.
  • Professionally able to handle escalated customer service or personnel issues while upholding NYRR values.
  • Passion for NYRR, community events, fitness, or running culture.
  • Must be self-motivated, results-oriented; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
