About the Role
This role supports event operations by assigning race bibs, distributing premiums, and providing customer service to runners and spectators. The position requires a passion for the NYRR brand and its core values, acting as a brand ambassador to create a positive event experience.
Responsibilities
- Assign race bibs using NYRR registration system and distribute race premiums at weekly races
- Assist with event set-up and break down the bib & premiums assignment station
- Attend day and evening week/weekend events as necessary to assist with all customer-service-related issues and inquiries
- Work with event staff when needed to ensure all customer inquiries are answered and each runner is satisfied
- Engage with runners and spectators and provide accurate information about the specific event and New York Road Runners
- Act as a brand ambassador to create a fun experience through positive runner interactions
- Demonstrate passion and commitment to the NYRR brand and core values: vision, excellence, teamwork, passion, innovation, challenge
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year Customer Service experience
- Prior event, race day or fitness experience is a plus but not required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Punctual and dependable with a strong work ethic
- Must be flexible, proactive, and able to adapt to changing race day needs
- Passion for NYRR, community events, fitness, or running culture
- Candidate should be an organized team player with a personable manner, excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with a diverse group of staff and participants
- Must be self-motivated, results oriented
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Must be available to work at least 90% of scheduled race days in each calendar quarter
- Flexibility for weekend and holiday events is essential as race days typically occur on weekends and include early mornings
- Shift start times vary and can be as early as 4am
