About the Role
The Retail Used Firearms Outfitter evaluates and purchases used firearms, manages inventory, and ensures accurate customer payments. This role focuses on providing exceptional customer service by assisting customers with product selection and completing transactions efficiently and legally.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, appraise, and purchase used firearms.
- Acquire firearms legally in accordance with ATF, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Complete all required ATF and state forms accurately.
- Screen firearm transfers for legality, compliance with waiting periods, and potential straw purchases.
- Maintain visual merchandising standards, including restocking, cleaning, and housekeeping.
- Perform opening and closing duties.
- Participate in ongoing training on firearms, products, systems, compliance, and selling techniques.
- Assist customers in making buying decisions by identifying needs and recommending products.
- Handle customer issues using sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Communicate company program benefits to customers.
- Travel locally to purchase used firearms.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must be able to safely handle firearms.
- Must possess a valid NYS Pistol Permit.
- Must have knowledge of purchasing firearms through industry experience or collecting.
- Must have a good understanding of retail operations.
- Must have knowledge of computers.
- Must have a background in current firearms models.
- Must be able to appraise the marketable value of used firearms.
- Must have a great work ethic and ability to multitask.
