About the Role
This role provides daily direction to store associates in a department, focusing on merchandise presentation, inventory control, sales, stocking, and customer service. The Team Leader supports departmental goals and ensures a positive customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Supports the Group Sales Manager / Department Manager in achieving departmental sales, gross margin, inventory shrinkage, and payroll goals.
- Provides daily direction to department associates.
- Prepares to-do/task lists.
- Executes merchandising directives and maintains plan-o-grams.
- Ensures a pleasant and productive shopping experience for customers.
- Assists with staffing, interviewing, training, and performance feedback for department associates.
- Resolves customer and associate issues in coordination with management.
- Maintains a high level of personal customer service.
- Stays updated on product knowledge and conducts product demonstrations.
- Assists with special events, pricing integrity, assortment planning, inventory accuracy, and display/signing of advertised items.
- Assists in carrying out supervisory responsibilities, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning work, evaluating performance, and addressing complaints.
- Provides excellent customer service by identifying customer needs, making recommendations, and promoting company programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in Retail Sales.
- Supervisory experience is a plus.
Skills
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, and percentages.
- Ability to read and analyze reports.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, associates, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to conduct meetings and presentations to groups.
- Proficiency with PC-based word processing, spreadsheets, data-based management, and electronic point of sale and inventory management systems.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, associates, customers, and Corporate Staff.
