About the Role

We are looking for an ML/AI engineer to create new AI solutions for automating, monitoring, and controlling advanced cyber threats by extracting insights from network and security log data. Your primary focus will be building machine learning models, conversational, and agentic solutions for Security, Risk, and Crisis Management. Success will be achieved by building new AI solutions to automate for high efficiency and accuracy, identifying previously undiscovered intrusions, or improving the organization’s security posture.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely and collaborate with stakeholders to understand their use cases, business cases, gather requirements, and develop AI architectures to address their business cases.
  • Apply AI, data mining, NLP, machine learning (both supervised and unsupervised) and statistical methods to improve relevance and personalization algorithms for improving Cybersecurity detection at Sun Life.
  • Design enterprise-grade Generative AI architectures, including complex Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and multi-agent systems.
  • Fine-tune open-source and proprietary models (e.g., Clauda) using advanced optimization techniques like LoRA, QLoRA, and deep prompt engineering.
  • Build, scale, and maintain high-throughput LLM serving infrastructure using various optimization.
  • Architect scalable data engineering pipelines and manage enterprise vector databases (e.g. OpenSearch, pgVector) for high-performance semantic search.
  • Implement robust model evaluation frameworks and guardrails to mitigate hallucinations, bias, and security vulnerabilities.
  • Discover new data sources to access, ingest, clean, and make them “model-ready”.
  • Develop subject matter expertise to understand about features to enhance model(s) performance and develop a standard repeatable process to continue enhancement and deployment.
  • Run regular A/B tests, gather data, perform statistical analysis, draw conclusions on the impact of your optimizations and communicate results to peers and leaders.
  • Create automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of its performance for various use cases.
  • Develop customized interactive dashboards to present information using data visualization techniques for internal business partners.
  • Developing complex SQL queries across multiple data sources to support analysis and optimizing workloads to reduce query runtimes along with process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis.
  • Accurately prepare and promptly complete all required supporting documentation for assigned projects/tasks (i.e., reports, models, change requests, presentations, tables, files, etc).
  • Stay up to date on ML/AI advancements in general and be able to communicate those changes via internal memos, blogs, training sessions, and architectural designs.

Requirements

  • Experience building Conversational and Agentic AI solutions.
  • Familiarity with Data Visualization and Reporting tools such as (Tableau Desktop, Power BI, AWS Quick).
  • 5+ years experience in using Python/R and SQL with tools like Snowflake, RedShift, RDS, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, SAS, Oracle, Bedrock, Agentcore etc. to analyze data and gather valuable insights.
  • Develop and drive innovative Data and Analytics thinking, including Predictive Modelling, Data Science application development.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services including Athena, Redshift, Lambda and SageMaker.
  • Conceptual understanding of Machine Learning (ML) techniques, and comprehension of existing algorithms and ML lifecycle components.
  • Conceptual understanding of Database theory, ETL/data pipeline design and data modelling.
  • Ability to work independently and eager to take on responsibility.
