About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Securities Operations, the Senior Analyst is the subject matter expert of this team with extensive knowledge of derivatives and marketable products traded by Investment Management. They provide guidance and direction to junior staff, review and approve their work, and coordinate with various internal and external groups.
Responsibilities
- Review and approve daily trade capture for all capital market instruments including fixed income, equities, and derivatives.
- Build and transfer knowledge of complex derivative strategies to Analysts.
- Review and approve derivative cash settlements and complete daily cash reconciliation.
- Review and affirm electronic confirmations in DTCC and MarkitWire.
- Act as the first escalation point for the group to research and resolve complex issues.
- Provide evidence of supervision and oversight by ensuring daily controls are signed off.
- Assist in managing interim and final audit efforts for Securities Operations.
- Lead special projects to continuously improve processing capabilities.
- Perform daily and monthly reconciliations between HOOPP and custodian positions and follow-up on discrepancies.
- Process mandatory and voluntary corporate actions for holdings in the fund.
- Recommend processes and controls that increase efficiency and reduce operational risk.
- Assist the Investment Accounting & Reporting Team with the accounting for all securities.
- Collaborate with other groups in the Investment Finance Division and IT Investment solutions team with issue resolution and new initiatives.
- Act as a resource to junior staff members for guidance and backing up critical daily activities.
- Act as back up to the Senior Manager when needed.
Requirements
- University degree in Business, Finance or related discipline.
- Completion or enrolment in a professional designation program (e.g., CFA).
- At least 7 years of experience in a financial sector, preferably in capital markets.
- Strong knowledge of capital market instruments including fixed income and equities.
- Strong knowledge of derivative instruments such as swaps, options and futures.
- Strong analytical skills and results oriented.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage conflicting priorities.
- Knowledge of investment accounting standards & principles.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal direction as well as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Identify and implement process improvements where necessary.
- Willing to assume other responsibilities as required.
- Relevant computer literacy is mandatory.
