About the Role

The Maintenance Electrician reports to the Molding Maintenance Manager and is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and assisting other departments as needed. This role operates in a production environment requiring physical stamina and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues on injection molding machines, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain auxiliary support equipment, including parts handling equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on molding machines and auxiliary equipment, including cleaning, adjusting, repairing, and testing components.
  • Perform bench repairs on motors, temperature controllers, and electronic cards.
  • Locate and replace faulty components, testing for correct operation.
  • Assist with housekeeping duties, including cleaning machinery and maintaining an orderly shop.
  • Support various departments and team members, assisting with non-electrical problems and providing aid during peak maintenance loads.
  • Ensure smooth production by communicating all necessary information to the next shift.
  • Comply with plant safety, HACCP, and SQF standards, using appropriate PPE.
  • Monitor and ensure Health & Safety, HACCP & SQF, and 5S compliance.
  • Proactively identify and suggest hazard elimination methods and participate in safety investigations.
  • Follow food safety and cGMP processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of technical experience in a fast-paced, high-volume lean manufacturing environment.
  • Industrial Electrician experience in the Plastic Industry, specifically in injection molded plastics and/or food packaging industry preferred.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Familiarity with programming PLCs.
  • Proven track record working with people and problem resolution.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Strong mechanical ability.
  • Proven ability to root cause analysis and determine permanent corrective actions.
  • General knowledge of In Mold Labeling (IML) and injection molding operations is highly desirable.
  • A bias for action and proven ability to deliver results.
  • Mechanically inclined with a positive can-do attitude.
  • Reliable and trustworthy with a strong work ethic.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to and work effectively within a variety of situations and with various individuals and groups.
  • Consistently uses good judgment while decision making, analyzes problems from different angles to seek alternatives before determining best solutions.
