About the Role
The Director of Global Strategic Events is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategy, governance, and execution of MongoDB’s global strategic events portfolio. This is a builder’s role requiring a leader who can define a bold vision for how MongoDB shows up in an AI-native and agentic future, lead a global team to bring that vision to life, and drive measurable pipeline, revenue, and brand impact. This leader will operate with significant autonomy, influence across functions, and engage regularly with executive stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Define the sponsorship and partner event strategy, including sponsorship packages, exhibitor programs, and partner activations.
- Lead and develop a global, distributed events team, establishing clear priorities, operating rhythms, and standards of excellence.
- Implement an AI-native approach to event operations, utilizing AI tools to improve workflows, automate reporting, and personalize attendee journeys.
- Represent Strategic Events across the business, partnering with leaders in Marketing, Sales, Product, Partner, and Communications.
- Shape the global strategic events vision and portfolio, setting strategy, priorities, and tiering frameworks for key events.
- Drive pipeline and revenue impact through integrated pre-event, onsite, and post-event programs in partnership with Revenue Marketing and Sales.
- Set the experiential and creative vision for events, creating differentiated, audience-centered experiences and shaping messaging.
- Own the budget, vendor model, and event infrastructure, managing a multi-million-dollar budget and overseeing the global agency and production model.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience leading global B2B events in enterprise technology or SaaS, including proprietary flagship conferences, executive programs, and complex event portfolios.
- Proven track record of scaling programs alongside company growth.
- Strong executive presence and influence, with a track record of partnering with C-level stakeholders and driving alignment in a matrixed organization.
- Experience leading global, distributed teams, including senior individual contributors and people leaders.
- Demonstrated understanding of how AI drives business value and a willingness to champion AI adoption.
- Deep operational and financial experience, including managing multi-million-dollar budgets, global agencies, and complex vendor ecosystems.
- Proven accountability for pipeline and revenue impact, with fluency in pipeline attribution, revenue influence, ROI measurement, and event performance reporting.
- Experience designing events for technical or developer audiences is a plus.
