About the Role

Beyer Blinder Belle is seeking an Architectural Designer to join our Historic Preservation Studio in New York City. This role supports projects from early investigation through construction, focusing on the rehabilitation, restoration, adaptive reuse, and preservation of significant historic buildings and sites.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the planning, design, documentation, and construction administration of historic preservation, restoration, rehabilitation, and adaptive reuse projects.
  • Prepare design and construction documents using Revit.
  • Assist with field investigations, existing conditions surveys, and documentation of historic buildings.
  • Develop architectural details and technical solutions sensitive to historic fabric and aligned with project goals.
  • Prepare presentation materials, diagrams, renderings, and graphic documentation for client presentations and project deliverables.
  • Coordinate with project teams, consultants, and internal disciplines throughout all project phases.
  • Participate in construction administration activities, including site visits, review of submittments, responses to RFIs, and preparation of field reports.
  • Conduct research on historic materials, construction techniques, building systems, and applicable preservation standards and codes.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional architectural experience, including work on historic preservation, restoration, rehabilitation, or adaptive reuse projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in construction administration.
  • Experience producing construction documents and architectural detailing is required.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Architectural licensure or progress toward licensure is a plus.

Skills

  • Strong technical and graphic communication skills
  • Proficiency in Revit
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience in documenting and working with historic buildings.

  • $70,000-$80,000
