About the Role
This professional position involves evaluating, planning, and providing occupational therapy treatment to patients based on a qualified provider's prescription or within Direct Access guidelines. The Occupational Therapist is responsible to the Director of Rehabilitation and may supervise COTAs, Physical Therapy Aides, and clerical staff.
Responsibilities
- Performing physical therapy evaluations and treatments using safe, evidence-based techniques for all age groups.
- Developing and implementing new and revised physical therapy care programs, including discharge plans.
- Conducting screenings to identify the need for further examination or referrals.
- Collaborating with other personnel to ensure optimal patient care.
- Maintaining accurate documentation of all evaluations, progress notes, care plans, and discharge summaries.
- Assisting in the development of physical therapy policies and procedures.
- Initiating wellness and injury prevention education programs for the facility and community.
Requirements
- Good knowledge of occupational therapy principles, techniques, and practices.
- Good knowledge of the operation and maintenance of occupational therapy equipment.
- Good knowledge of pathological conditions and socioeconomic factors affecting patient disabilities.
- Working knowledge of community resources applicable to occupational therapy.
- Ability to plan and supervise the work of others.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships.
- Good communication skills.
- Computer skills related to electronic records, charting, auditing, and maintenance.
- Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
