About the Role
Upstate Veterinary Specialties is seeking a Floating Veterinary Assistant to support multiple specialty services. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain experience across multiple specialty services and expand your veterinary skills. Responsibilities
- Assisting doctors and technicians during examinations and procedures
- Safely restraining patients for exams and treatments
- Processing diagnostic samples
- Preparing and obtaining patient medical histories
- Supporting workflow across multiple departments
- Maintaining clean and organized treatment spaces
- Communicating with clients and supporting appointment coordination
- Assisting with procedural setup and anticipating doctor needs
- Helping maintain inventory and supplies
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year in a veterinary assistant role
- Surgical experience preferred
- Experience with animal restraint preferred (Fear Free techniques are a plus)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Positive attitude and commitment to patient care and client service
- Demonstrates flexibility with scheduling and adapts quickly and effectively to changing priorities, workflows, and patient care needs
