About the Role

We are seeking candidates with an earned doctorate in Social Work or Sociology, or a Doctorate in Social Work (DSW) by Fall 2027. The successful candidate also will have earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW). Areas of specialization are open, and the department is interested in providing students with opportunities to understand the application of social work principles to contemporary social issues, behavioral health, research methods, and public policy. We seek dynamic faculty who are student-centered and model the knowledge, skills and values necessary for ethical practice.

Responsibilities

Undergraduate instruction with an expectation of competence in the use of instructional technology
Responsible for academic advisement of students
Participation in departmental activities
Active research agenda
Teaching courses within their areas of expertise, as well as core courses such as, Introduction to Sociology, Introduction to Social Work, Social Research Methods, and Practicum Seminar.
Placing an emphasis on active learning and quality teaching in a small classroom setting.
Thoughtfully incorporating sociocultural perspectives and the experiences of individuals and communities from a range of backgrounds into their teaching.
Committing to contributing to a learning environment that welcomes varied perspectives and facilitates student learning in ethical, inclusive, and effective social work practice.
Maintaining a promising and active research agenda that leads to peer reviewed publications and presentations.

Requirements

PhD in Social Work or Sociology, or DSW, by Fall of 2027
MSW (from a CSWE accredited program)
Two years post-MSW practice experience

$75,000 - $80,000

About the Company

The Social Work & Sociology department is one of four departments in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
The School also has graduate programs in various fields including Social Psychology, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Teaching, Curriculum and Instruction, and Social Work.
The Social Work & Sociology department, in collaboration with the Crime and Justice Studies department, offers a dual major in Social Work and Crime and Justice Studies.
