About the Role

As an Associate, Product Controller - Credit Europe, you will be a Product Control team member covering the business function for the Asset Backed Securities, Credit Loan Originations and Credit Europe desk. All responsibilities carried out in accordance with Code of Conduct, RBC Values and Guiding Principles ensuring adherence to Privacy principles. This role is based in Toronto but involves covering a UK-based desk, hence there would be a 6:30am start time.

Responsibilities

  • Provide an effective link between Front Office (FO) & Financial Control, resolving daily P+L disagreements and achieving P+L agreement with FO.
  • Produce daily desk P&L including commentaries.
  • Justify P&L via daily risk-based decomposition, utilizing the Greeks and new trade analysis.
  • Reconcile P&L to traders estimates.
  • Ensure integrity of the banks books & records via reconciliation and attestation.
  • Provide support in detailed investigations on FOBO reconciliation activities with a sound understanding of product flows and trade bookings accounting treatments.
  • Report consolidated results to senior management including appropriate valuation adjustments.
  • Produce ad-hoc reporting and analysis required by Front Office and senior management, including deep dives on P&L, Balance Sheet analysis, and other financial analysis.
  • Ensure the Product Control team and stakeholders are immediately aware of revaluation issues that may affect downstream activity.
  • Ensure PC remains and is seen to be an independent control function.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent with relevant experience in finance/controls or process improvement.
  • Good understanding of financial reporting, Audit compliance, and financial systems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and support executive-level requests.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Canadian financial institution business/transaction knowledge.
  • CFA, obtained or working towards.
