About the Role

We are seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Linear Municipal Infrastructure team, specializing in water mains, sanitary sewers, stormwater systems, and roadways. This is a new position offering flexible work hours and hybrid work arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Assist project managers and engineers in the functional and detailed design of municipal infrastructure related to roads, water supply, sewers, roadway drainage, land development site servicing, storm water management and waste management.
• Assist project managers, engineers, environmental scientists and others on a variety of multidisciplinary design teams.
• Complete design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members.
• Assist with fieldwork as needed for construction observation, monitoring and data collection.
• Experiment with AI-enabled tools to push the boundaries of traditional design.
• Proactively seek and cultivate new, long-term business opportunities that align with sustainability goals.
• Prepare proposals and statements of qualification.
• Travel to other Dillon offices as needed to support collaboration, share knowledge, and drive growth.
• Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development.
• Provide input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring.
• Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice as a professional engineer in your field or eligible to register.
• Proven expertise in municipal infrastructure, developed through 5+ years of experience in consulting or related fields, with a track record of technical leadership.
• Proven project management and business development capabilities.
• Knowledge of the functional and detailed design of integrated municipal infrastructure including roads, sewers and watermains.
• Understand a range of project design and implementation activities including development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering, and contract administration.
• Working knowledge of current AutoCAD software.
• Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
• Familiarity with local regulations, policies, guidelines, and provincial and municipal permit requirements for environmental agencies.
• Proven skills in detail design of municipal infrastructure.
• Exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills are essential.

Skills

• Civil 3D/Land Desktop software knowledge is an asset.
• Familiarity with construction inspection and contract administration would be considered an asset.
• Familiarity with Northern Canadian design or construction related practices would be considered an asset.
• Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
