About the Role
The Leadership Giving Officer will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward leadership giving donors, targeting those capable of multi-year, unrestricted pledge commitments between $5,000 and $99,000. This role manages a dynamic portfolio and assists in efforts to renew and solicit increased annual gifts from alumni, parents, and friends, collaborating across the University to achieve fundraising priorities. The position may also involve managing volunteer boards to increase leadership annual giving.
Responsibilities
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward leadership giving donors.
- Manage a dynamic portfolio and assist in efforts to renew and solicit increased annual gifts.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the University to achieve fundraising priorities.
- Manage volunteer boards composed of alumni, parents, and friends aimed at increasing leadership annual giving.
- Create and execute a fundraising plan that achieves specific and measurable goals.
- Serve as a member of the Stony Brook University Advancement team.
- Communicate regularly with direct supervisor, peer development officers, and other Advancement personnel.
- Foster constructive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues.
- Engage volunteers to utilize them in the cultivation and solicitation of gifts.
- Attend appropriate alumni, college, and university events to advance prospect or donor relationships.
- Establish positive working relationships with key internal and external partners.
- Serve as a proactive leader in the university's leadership annual giving efforts.
- Work with alumni relations to increase attendance, engagement, and follow-up for key events.
- Analyze metrics and key performance indicators to ensure best practices and lessons learned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher degree).
- Two (2) years of full-time work experience.
- Experience in fundraising, sales, philanthropy, alumni relations, donor cultivation, events, and/or stewardship practices.
- Experience working in higher education, non-profit and/or healthcare systems.
- Fundraising campaign experience.
- Contact management software experience.
- Proven track record of closing major or leadership annual giving level gifts.
