About the Role

Join CAE in Binghamton, NY, to build mission-ready training systems. As a Systems Engineer, you will shape the systems powering high-fidelity flight and mission simulators, modernizing legacy platforms, integrating new capabilities, and ensuring realism and reliability for pilot readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain core systems for reliable, high-performing simulator operation.
  • Modernize legacy simulator systems with enhancements, new features, and optimized stability.
  • Collaborate with software and hardware teams to integrate system components seamlessly into real-time training devices.
  • Support system reviews and cross-functional innovation to evolve next-generation training capabilities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues across modern and legacy platforms.
  • Contribute to systems that directly support pilot readiness and mission safety.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance and Special Program Access.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Flexibility for occasional overtime, shift work, weekend work, and CONUS travel.
  • Must comply with all company security and data protection/usage policies and procedures.
  • Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials.
  • Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know.
  • Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.
  • All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company-provided resources.
  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to work overtime on and off-shifts as required.
  • The employee is on call 24x7 for the resolution of problems and issues.
  • Must be able to perform normal office duties (e.g., sitting for long periods at a desk).
  • Must be able to travel CONUS/OCONUS via car and airplane.
  • Must be able to climb stairs to enter and exit a simulator.

Skills

  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704.
  • ARINC / RTCA experience preferred.
  • Experience working in Waterfall and/or Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Defense or military experience.
  • Comfort operating in both Traditional and Agile environments.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Track record of mentoring teams.
  • Track record of driving technical innovation.
  • Track record of delivering high-quality software in high-stakes environments.
  • Strong problem-solving instincts.
  • Passion for building reliable, high-performance systems.

  • 8+ years of experience in systems engineering for mission-critical or real-time environments.

Education Level

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).

Salary/Compensations

  • $153,300.00 - $169,500.00
