About the Role
Join CAE in Binghamton, NY, to build mission-ready training systems that shape how aircrews prepare for real-world operations. You will work on systems that elevate readiness and deliver meaningful impact for defense customers worldwide, contributing to critical national security programs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software for flight and mission simulators, ensuring reliability and performance.
- Work on legacy code bases, driving modernization through enhancements and new features while ensuring maintenance, optimization, and stability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software with hardware for real-time, mission-critical applications.
- Contribute to projects using both Waterfall and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Write and maintain clean, efficient code, with a focus on real-time systems and simulator performance.
- Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and cross-functional brainstorming.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in legacy and real-time systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering for mission-critical or real-time environments.
- Proven leadership skills, with a track record of mentoring teams, driving technical innovation, and delivering high-quality software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for ensuring software reliability in high-stakes training environments.
- Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance and Special Program Access.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Flexibility for occasional overtime, shift work, weekend work, and CONUS travel.
- Must comply with all company security and data protection/usage policies and procedures.
- Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials.
- Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know.
- Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.
- All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.
- Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
- Must be able to perform normal office duties (e.g. sitting for long periods at a desk).
- Must be able to travel CONUS/OCONUS via car and airplane.
- Must be able to climb stairs to enter and exit a simulator.
