About the Role
As the Head of Marketing Creative & Content, you will establish and lead a new creative and content discipline within an evolving agile operating model. You will set the structure, talent strategy, operating model, and ways of working for a team of over 100 creative professionals, ensuring high-quality, consistent output across CIBC-owned channels. This role involves integrating creative and content capabilities into agile teams, setting the creative vision, strengthening content strategy, and building partnerships to drive business impact.
Responsibilities
- Design and establish the organizational structure, roles, and operating model for a new creative and content team.
- Develop the resourcing strategy across internal talent, agency partners, and freelance support.
- Build foundational processes, tools, and quality standards for long-term success.
- Attract, hire, and develop top creative talent across multiple disciplines and levels.
- Foster a high-performing, inclusive team culture where creativity, collaboration, and accountability work together.
- Lead the integration of creative and content operations into CIBC’s agile operating model.
- Adapt creative processes to iterative delivery methods and embed capabilities into agile squads.
- Guide the team through the cultural and operational shift to new ways of working.
- Set the creative vision and content strategy for CIBC-owned channels, ensuring work is audience-focused, on-brand, and aligned to business goals.
- Establish governance, editorial standards, and effective workflows that support consistent, high-quality delivery.
- Build strong relationships with leaders across growth marketing, digital, and business lines to align priorities and deliver integrated solutions.
- Manage external agency and vendor relationships to extend team capabilities.
- Measure creative and content effectiveness using data and insights.
- Identify opportunities to optimize performance, improve client experiences, and support acquisition, retention, and brand equity objectives.
Requirements
- 12-15+ years of progressive leadership experience in creative, content, or brand marketing.
- 7-10+ years leading large, multi-disciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated experience standing up, scaling, or significantly transforming a creative or content organization.
- Hands-on experience integrating creative functions into agile operating models.
- Understanding of methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), or similar approaches.
- Deep knowledge of content strategy, brand storytelling, digital content production, and multi-channel campaign development.
- Experience using data, personalization, or artificial intelligence-assisted tools to enhance creative workflows is an asset.
- Strong executive presence and ability to build trust, align stakeholders, and communicate a clear vision.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Fine Arts, or a related field.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) is an asset.
- Experience in financial services or another regulated industry is an asset.
- Legally eligible to work at the specified location(s).
- May be asked to complete an attribute-based assessment and other skills tests.
