About the Role
The Jewel Hotel is seeking a hands-on leader to manage the Maintenance Department, ensuring the seamless operation and upkeep of the hotel property. This role is crucial for maintaining a safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment for guests and staff.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and schedule the maintenance team for efficient work performance.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and motivated work environment.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and coach team members.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively.
- Participate in Department Head Meetings providing departmental updates.
- Communicate effectively with the team, addressing issues and promoting teamwork.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the maintenance department following Club Quarters standards.
- Coordinate with other hotel departments to ensure seamless guest service.
- Recruit qualified staff for the maintenance department, maintaining agreed staffing levels.
- Lead the Fire & Life Safety Program, Security Program, and Energy Conservation Program.
- Ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA and building codes.
- Implement and maintain the building’s comprehensive fire and life safety program.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for fire and life safety inspections and audits.
- Conduct regular inspections and testing of fire and life safety systems.
- Coordinate and conduct fire drills and emergency evacuation procedures.
- Deliver safety training programs, focusing on health and safety preparedness.
- Maintain accurate records of all safety inspections, maintenance activities, and training sessions.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest fire and life safety codes and regulations.
- Ensure the safety and security of guests, staff, and the hotel property.
- Implement and enforce security procedures, ensuring compliance with Club Quarters standards.
- Respond to emergencies and handle incidents according to established protocols.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Manage and supervise a preventative maintenance program for guest rooms and hotel premises.
- Direct and maintain a preventative maintenance program for all hotel systems and equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections, identify potential maintenance issues, and execute timely resolution.
- Monitor guest feedback and implement service improvements.
- Ensure all guests receive prompt, professional, and courteous service.
- Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and resolve issues effectively and efficiently.
- Perform and coordinate the maintenance and repair of furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Coordinate with all contractors and vendors, ensuring timely and on-budget completion.
- Execute approved projects, monitor progress, and provide regular updates.
- Maintain a high level of guest satisfaction scores and implement strategies for improvement.
- Assist in the development of the maintenance department budget.
- Manage and control the maintenance department expenses, including labor and supplies.
- Monitor the local utility market and make recommendations.
- Analyze monthly utilities to ensure equipment and building equipment is operating at maximum efficiency.
- Source appropriate vendors, negotiate pricing and rates, submit purchase orders, and authorize maintenance department purchases.
- Audit tenant fire/life safety and maintenance programs on a monthly basis.
- Be available for on-call emergencies.
- Coordinate repairs and responses to emergency situations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with building engineers within the immediate vicinity.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Hotel Manager.
Requirements
- Minimum three years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity in a maintenance department of a hotel or similar.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
