About the Role
The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing heavy equipment and fleet vehicles to ensure safe and efficient operations. This role supports a wide range of mechanical systems, including engines, electrical systems, drivetrains, braking systems, and hydraulics, and plays a critical role in maintaining equipment readiness across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and major repairs on heavy equipment, including loaders, dump trucks, sweepers, and similar equipment, across key systems: Engine, Electrical, Drivetrain, Suspension, Braking systems, Hydraulics
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and safety
- Provide maintenance support during snow events, including emergency and on-demand repairs
- Utilize diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
- Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic, with heavy equipment experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to operate hand and power tools and perform independent repairs
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to pass airport badge/security screening process
- Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting
Skills
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, including experience with diesel diagnostic software
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively in non-climate-controlled environments
- Positive attitude with strong work ethic and adaptability in dynamic conditions
