About the Role

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Nurse Educator is responsible for overseeing the clinical training and ongoing professional development of LPN and CNA nursing staff and other clinical staff for Episcopal Church Home under the guidance of the Nursing Education Coordinator. This position is also responsible for the implementation, ongoing updates, and maintenance of Electronic Health Records (EHR).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with nursing management to provide a clinical orientation that meets the needs of the organization and the new staff member.
• Partner with Director of Nursing Education and Quality and Information Technology Manager to implement and sustain EHR.
• Train staff at all levels to fully utilize EHR.
• Oversee in-service education for CNAs and RCA’s in compliance with government regulations.
• Provide classroom and clinical instruction about policies and procedures impacting resident care.
• Audit the clinical competencies of clinical staff to ensure quality performance.
• Develop, implement, and conduct relevant in-service training programs.
• Establish and maintain a network of contacts with health-related agencies.
• Coordinate and maintain medication error process.
• Utilize outside training programs and on-line resources to maximize development opportunities for staff.
• Coordinate the clinical rotation of students from external programs.
• Review and revise nursing policies and procedures.
• Participate in ECH quality assurance committee.
• On call responsibility on a rotating basis.
• Report unsafe conditions to security and maintenance.
• Familiar with established emergency procedures and staff incidents.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in training adults at all skill levels.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR.
• Ability to train nursing staff members in various electronic documentation tools.
• Ability to interact courteously and tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, vendors and the general public.
• Performing duties of this job requires lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, walking and standing.
• Must be able to occasionally lift loads up to 50 pounds without assistance.
• Ability to sit, speak, and hear is required.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
