About the Role
The Country Risk Management Team is composed of economists, political scientists, and finance professionals who analyze the global environment and its impact on business outcomes. This role focuses on the firm's country risk in the Americas, covering approximately 120 countries. The team values analysts who can independently tackle unstructured problems with a rigorous and detailed approach, applying their work directly to business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Monitor economic, political, and policy trends to anticipate changes in business environments affecting Nomura.
- Form and communicate relevant opinions through written pieces, data visualization, and presentations.
- Cover a portfolio of countries, sovereigns, sub-sovereigns, and/or supranationals in the Americas region and make credit risk decisions.
- Participate in credit-sensitive transactions involving challenging countries in the Americas.
- Monitor and maintain a risk portfolio, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate across the firm and support other risk managers and senior management.
Requirements
- Post-graduate degree in economics, political science, finance, or a related discipline.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with proven resourcefulness and efficiency.
- Strong analytical skills and flexible thinking across disciplines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with regional and global responsibilities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to work hard and flexibly in a rewarding environment.
- Solid professional experience reflecting the required skills.
- Preference for in-region experience (Latin America) in an analytical capacity.
- Spanish fluency is preferred.
