About the Role
The Director of Finance and Operations for Academic Affairs provides fiscal and operational support to the Provost, serving as the primary budget officer for Academic Affairs. This role involves managing purchasing, budget planning, forecasting, financial reconciliation, and reporting, while ensuring adherence to institutional policies.
Responsibilities
- Manage budget schedules and support unit budget files for Academic Affairs.
- Provide support to Academic Affairs colleges and non-academic units for budget planning.
- Assist the Provost and senior management in making spending decisions and reviewing the Academic Affairs budget.
- Summarize budgets by area and submit final proposed budgets, collaborating with college financial managers.
- Make budget amendments in Workday for operational items and communicate budget adjustments.
- Liaise with international partners for inquiries and manage related issues.
- Manage budgeting and costs for faculty hiring, release time, start-up packages, and stipends.
- Make budget adjustments to colleges/departments after approval.
- Work with college financial managers on faculty-related budgeting.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in financial services or business operations.
- Master of Business Administration preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in a financial services environment or a higher education business office setting.
- Prior experience in Higher Education budget and planning highly preferred.
- Knowledge of budget oversight and planning.
- High level of data analysis skills.
- Detail-oriented, thorough, and accurate.
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively and collegially with all levels of management and staff.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to manage all personnel and fiscal matters in a professional and highly confidential manner.
