About the Role
SYSTRA Canada is seeking an experienced Systems Engineering Manager / Lead to support the delivery of a major Light Rail Transit (LRT) project. This role is responsible for leading day-to-day systems engineering activities, ensuring requirements, interfaces, integration, verification, validation, and configuration processes are effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day systems engineering activities for the SRS scope.
- Lead requirements capture, analysis, allocation, traceability, and change control for SRS systems.
- Maintain requirements compliance and traceability from design through verification and handover.
- Coordinate interface management across disciplines, contractors, stakeholders, and external parties.
- Develop, maintain, and control interface control documents (ICDs) and interface registers.
- Identify, track, and resolve interface issues, risks, and action items.
- Plan and coordinate verification and validation (V&V) activities for system and subsystem requirements.
- Ensure V&V evidence is collected, reviewed, organized, and maintained to support assurance and certification.
- Support integration management activities across systems and subsystems.
- Coordinate with design, testing, assurance, and delivery teams to manage integration dependencies and risks.
- Support configuration management processes, including baseline control, document control, and change management.
- Contribute to RAMS and hazard management activities, including maintaining relevant registers, records, and supporting documentation.
- Provide systems engineering input to hazard identification, mitigation tracking, and closure activities.
- Guide design teams on the use of systems engineering methods, tools, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with applicable project standards, procedures, and engineering governance requirements.
- Support technical reviews, audits, assurance reviews, and certification submissions as required.
- Prepare and maintain systems engineering plans, reports, registers, and technical documentation.
Requirements
- University degree in Engineering in Electrical, Systems, Mechanical, Civil, or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed in Ontario or equivalent.
- 10–15+ years of systems engineering experience on rail or complex infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of systems engineering processes, including: Requirements management, Interface management, Integration management, Configuration management, Verification and validation.
- Experience working with CENELEC EN 5012x, IEEE 15288, or similar standards for rail systems.
- Hands-on experience with DOORS or equivalent requirements management tools.
