About the Role

As an Apprentice Bus Technician, you will be trained to inspect, diagnose, repair and test equipment and systems on buses. This role involves performing tasks from simple part replacements to solving complex faults, utilizing diagnostic equipment. You will gain skills and experience across a range of vehicles as technology evolves.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, repair and test equipment and systems on buses.
  • Perform simple tasks, like replacing a part.
  • Solve complex faults using diagnostic equipment.
  • Inspect, diagnose and record defects to the applicable standard.
  • Apply diagnostic principles based on logical, analytical interpretation to solve problems.
  • Understand emerging bus and coach technologies and their impact on technician skills.
  • Adhere to current Health and Safety requirements and workshop practices.
  • Carry out high quality road worthiness inspections specific to their trade.
  • Understand the business operations and their role within the organization.
  • Meet customer expectations by delivering a safe, clean, reliable service.
  • Understand the requirements of attending and assessing roadside incidents.

Requirements

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) at Grade C / Level 3 as a minimum.
  • Inquisitive mindset.
  • Enjoy solving problems.
  • Willingness to get hands dirty.

  • £12.71 per hour (21+, first year)
  • Rising in line with national minimum wage and progression
