About the Role
We are seeking skilled Medical Technologists to join our St. Peters Health Partners Laboratory team. The ideal candidate will perform a variety of laboratory tests utilized by providers for diagnosing, monitoring, and treating patients. This role is for detail-oriented individuals passionate about caring for those in need, helping to fulfill our mission.
Responsibilities
- Successfully complete onboarding process, initial training with preceptor, and be signed off to work independently.
- Successfully complete LIS training.
- Prepare samples for analysis, evaluating specimen suitability and accepting or rejecting specimens according to laboratory policy.
- Evaluate test results/microorganism growth for validity within defined protocols and make appropriate decisions.
- Report test results accurately and timely per laboratory protocols.
- Maintain correct patient ID throughout testing.
- Maintain annual competency and education requirements.
- Complete education and competency documentation before due date.
- Precisely and accurately enter patient/QC results into LIS.
- Perform/document quality control testing, calibration, and preventative maintenance as defined by established protocol and take appropriate remedial action.
- Take initiative and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Recognize errors, respond appropriately, and escalate as needed.
- Assist with maintaining inventory of testing reagents and supplies.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, other healthcare professionals, and customers to ensure excellent and appropriate follow-up.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related science with approved medical clinical training.
- NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT/MT/CLS) license is required.
- Minimum of 1-year clinical laboratory experience preferred but not required.
