About the Role
The International School of San Francisco is seeking positive, passionate, and knowledgeable coaches for its Middle School Athletic Department. The program operates within a K-12 independent school setting, serving students in grades 5-8. The Jaguar Athletic experience aims to foster growth, pride, and enthusiasm, offering student-athletes opportunities to develop healthy practices of mind, body, and character.
Responsibilities
- Administer all levels of their sport.
- Follow the procedures of the high school’s athletic program, and the International and California Interscholastic Federation.
- Provide clear communication for student-athletes and families regarding expectations and philosophy.
- Seek resolution for conflicts at the appropriate time, not immediately before or after a contest.
- Assist in the total development of all student-athletes using positive methods.
- Create an ideal learning environment to help student-athletes through their life journey.
- Create and implement a meaningful practice structure to enhance instruction, development, and effective use of time.
- Use a holistic approach when evaluating student-athletes, considering skill, character, integrity, leadership, coachability, and love for the sport.
- Select student-athletes that best represent the School’s Mission without regard to ability or status.
- Incorporate a student-driven, mid and post-season review to be shared with student-athletes.
- Foster an environment that develops positive leadership qualities on and off the field.
- Select Team Captains and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) members based on character and leadership ability.
- Uphold the Mission of the school and conduct themselves accordingly.
Requirements
- Must be reliable, prompt, and dependable.
- Must have transportation.
- Ability to pass a full background check.
- Applicants should include a letter of interest, current resume, and three references.
