About the Role

Responsible for the overall operation of the classroom, ensuring curriculum aligns with Early Childhood Education standards and promotes child development. Monitors and documents educational progress, establishes a safe and nurturing environment, and incorporates parent involvement. Responsible for the general supervision of teacher aide staff and adherence to program regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities for all children within a daily classroom schedule.
  • Collaborate with the Special Education teacher to create differentiated lesson plans for a wide range of abilities and learning styles.
  • Communicate the lesson plan to all classroom staff with assigned responsibilities.
  • Ensure the day’s instructional materials are prepared prior to the arrival of children.
  • Ensure the proper use and storage of supplies and materials, conducting inventory and requesting supplies as needed.
  • Incorporate small and large group activities that promote inclusive opportunities with all children.
  • Conduct Authentic Assessments on an ongoing basis of typically developing children utilizing approved assessment tools and data collection techniques.
  • Implement behavior management plans in collaboration with the Special Education teacher.
  • Maintain files or records of children in the classroom.
  • Complete attendance and wellness tracking forms immediately upon a child’s arrival.
  • Remain cognizant of children’s current medical status and consult with Pediatric LPN regarding any change in child’s health or behavior.
  • Complete incident reports and documentation of minor injuries as needed.
  • Ensure proper staff/child ratio and supervision is maintained at all times.
  • Communicate with parents on a regular basis, including weekly newsletters and communication notebooks.
  • Hold bi-annual parent-teacher conferences and additional conferences as needed or requested.
  • Attend staff meetings as requested.
  • Participate in conferences, workshops, and/or in-service trainings as needed or required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field; or an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood with two years’ experience in a child care setting preferred; or Child Development Associate Credential and five years’ experience in a child care setting.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

  • Child Development Associate Credential
