About the Role

As an integral member of the Pharmacy Services Inpatient Operations Team, the Pharmacy Technician is responsible for the technical aspects of prescription preparation, including compounding and dispensing. This role involves managing stock medication supplies, maintaining patient information in the pharmacy computer system, completing required documentation, and participating in training functions.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform all technical aspects of prescription preparation including compounding and dispensing responsibilities, as per master worksheets
• Replenish stock medication supplies for assigned areas
• Ensure patient information is updated and maintained in the pharmacy computer system
• Complete all required reports and documentation
• Attend, participate and assist in staff and patient training/educational functions
• Perform workload measurement support functions
• Perform cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested

Requirements

• Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program at an accredited college or recognized equivalent required
• Registration as a Pharmacy Technician (Part A) in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists required
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and to manage competing priorities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to learn and troubleshoot changing technologies/machinery
• Two years practical and related experience preferred
• Previous hospital experience with unit dose system and intravenous admixture service, preferred
• Current UHN employees must have successfully completed their probationary period, have a good employee record along with satisfactory attendance in accordance with UHN's attendance management program, to be eligible for consideration.
