About the Role
AECOM is seeking a Construction Project Manager to support the NYCHA/AECOM Comprehensive Modernization Program in New York City. This role involves assessing and tracking renovation progress, coordinating with stakeholders, managing contractors, and ensuring quality assurance for temporary relocation apartments.
Responsibilities
- Visit prospective and active temporary relocation apartments regularly to assess, document, and track existing conditions, renovation progress, and remaining work required.
- Follow all NYCHA policies, procedures, and program requirements governing the apartment renovation process.
- Develop, maintain, and report on renovation schedules for temporary relocation apartments, identifying critical path activities and potential schedule risks.
- Coordinate with NYCHA, the AECOM Program Management Team, Property Management, and Development staff to identify, prioritize, and track apartments requiring renovation for temporary resident occupancy.
- Manage and coordinate the NYCHA Job Order Contract (JOC) contractor to ensure renovation work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established schedules; monitor and report on production status.
- Perform quality assurance inspections throughout construction to verify compliance with program standards, utilizing established inspection checklists, punch lists, and final acceptance procedures.
- Monitor and coordinate activities among contractors, consultants, NYCHA staff, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and timely issue resolution.
- Prepare and distribute daily and weekly status reports, dashboards, and progress updates for the Program Management Team and NYCHA leadership.
- Work closely with the Program Tenant Relocation Team to ensure temporary apartments are delivered in alignment with resident relocation schedules.
- Communicate effectively with NYCHA leadership, the Program Management Team, Construction Managers, Design-Build teams, Property Management, and other stakeholders to support successful program delivery.
- Attend project meetings with NYCHA, Design-Build teams, Construction Managers, and contractors, documenting action items and ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
- Coordinate project closeout activities, ensuring all punch list items, required documentation, inspections, and final approvals are completed prior to resident occupancy.
- Verify that all required permits, inspections, and regulatory approvals are obtained and maintained throughout the renovation process.
- Coordinate environmental investigations and remediation activities, as required, to support apartment readiness and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain accurate records, tracking logs, and program documentation to support reporting, audits, and overall program management activities.
Requirements
- BA/BS plus eight years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
- As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
- 10 years of project or program management oversight experience.
- Knowledge of procedures and regulations for removing hazardous materials such as lead-based paint, mold and asbestos.
- Working knowledge of building codes, standards, and building structures.
- Experience in project scheduling, cost estimating.
- Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
- Relocation is not available for this position.
- All newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.
