About the Role

The IT Manager is a senior technical member of the Technology team, reporting to the Director of Technology. This role owns the organization's network and infrastructure, serving as the primary technical point of contact for building events and production activity. The IT Manager also manages vendor relationships, oversees system health, and acts as the first responder for infrastructure incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Help Desk role, including day-to-day support workflow and escalation.
  • Provide coverage for other Technology team members' tasks during absences or vacations.
  • Communicate and support organizational technology best practices and guidance.
  • Meet with rental event clients to assess network needs and hardware.
  • Assess network needs for in-house productions.
  • Support Production's audio, lighting, and visual systems where they depend on network and server rack infrastructure.
  • Consult on and support fiber and broadband needs for events involving streaming or video broadcast.
  • Maintain working knowledge of union jurisdiction boundaries for IT-related work.
  • Work closely with Facilities and Security on network-dependent communication systems.
  • Serve as primary liaison to WOD (wired network maintenance) and Commscope (WiFi maintenance/support).
  • Administer and troubleshoot Cisco switches, VLANs, and 802.1x (Cisco ISE).
  • Maintain wireless access points.
  • Configure and troubleshoot firewall (SonicWall).
  • Manage Cisco Umbrella and Taegis for network/endpoint security.
  • Provision network access, including creating SSIDs and managing hardline port access.
  • Maintain internal DNS.
  • Procure and manage domain certificates for internal systems.
  • Update or replace fiber and ethernet runs as needed.
  • Administer AD/Entra infrastructure.
  • Support SSO/SAML integration for applications.
  • Support core infrastructure: UPS systems, firewalls, Hyper-V instances, ISE servers.
  • Configure and oversee system backups, monitoring for successful completion and escalating failures.
  • Administer print servers; deploy and install printers/copiers.
  • Conduct initial health analysis of laptops, desktops, and servers; oversee repair of non-working systems.
  • Own monthly "Patch Mondays" for reviewing machines and applying patches.
  • Roll out firmware updates and software patches.
  • Oversee MDM systems (Intune, Jamf, Hexnode), including device deployment/imaging.
  • Work with staff to identify hardware needs, aiding in speccing, procurement, and deployment.
  • Maintain hardware inventory records and inform capital replacement planning.
  • Co-manage 1Password administration, Duo administration, and Google Workspace configuration/accounts.
  • Configure and oversee backups for Google Workspace and OneDrive data.
  • Serve as first point of contact for server/network outages.
  • Monitor and respond to urgent tickets in Zendesk.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Cisco networking (switches, ISE, 802.1x), SonicWall firewall, and Cisco Umbrella.
  • Experience with AD/Entra, Duo, and Google Workspace identity sync.
  • Working knowledge of SSO/SAML integration.
  • Familiarity with Intune, Jamf, and Hexnode for MDM/device deployment.
  • Experience with Taegis or comparable endpoint/network security tooling.
  • Familiarity with Auvik or comparable network monitoring/management tooling is helpful.
  • Knowledge of Hyper-V virtualization and Windows/macOS/Linux environments.
  • Familiarity with distributed software applications.
  • Comfort working in a union-labor building environment, understanding jurisdictional boundaries.
  • Strong communication skills for direct client- and production-facing coordination.
  • Comfortable interacting with nontechnical staff and excels at customer service-oriented interactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage vendor relationships and a direct report.
