About the Role
Leeding Builders Group (LBG) is seeking a Project Accounting Supervisor to manage the construction project accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial processing and reporting. This role serves as a key point of contact for financial inquiries and issue resolution.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including managerial responsibilities over multiple project accountants.
- Ensure timeliness and verify accuracy of the AIA application for payment process for the company’s portfolio of construction projects.
- Provide guidance to project teams and accountants regarding protocol for lien waivers, stored materials, deposit logs, and where required, payroll reporting, local hiring, etc.
- Maintain functional and professional templates for internal and external use.
- Internally audit project budgets, costs, and financial performance.
- Spot-check applications for payment to ensure quality and consistency across all projects.
- Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate cost reporting and forecasting.
- Provide support to project accountants for complex accounting matters, client inquiries, and subcontractor inquiries.
- Assist with month-end close processes related to project financials.
- Support audits and ensure compliance with company and client requirements.
- Directly process miscellaneous payables, including overhead payables and payables requiring allocation across multiple projects.
- Provide expense report oversight and assist with processing and approvals.
- Post job cost transactions entered by project accounting personnel.
- Review and reconcile accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Ensure timely payroll reporting to insurance carriers.
- Assist with project budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Provide training and guidance to accounting personnel.
- Prepare financial analyses and reports for management review.
- Periodically audit user permissions across various accounting and vendor platforms.
- Prepare invoices for preconstruction, consulting, and other miscellaneous services.
- Evaluate and improve all financial policies, controls and processes that will position for efficient and effective continued growth.
- Evaluate opportunities for process improvement and implementation of best methods and practices.
- Apply an advanced understanding of concepts, industry knowledge and technical capabilities.
- Possesses in-depth technical or functional knowledge in area of expertise.
- Undertake assignments outside the core skill set to expand expertise.
Requirements
- BA/BS in accounting, finance, or a related field and 6 years minimum related construction accounting experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education for Project Accounting Supervisor.
- BA/BS in accounting, finance, or a related field and 8 years minimum related construction accounting experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education for Project Accounting Manager.
- Working knowledge of Textura and CMiC.
- Knowledge of Procore would be beneficial.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and professional in communication.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior management experience.
- Notary.
- Sound technical skills (e.g., cost structures, job costing), good judgment and strong operational focus.
- Hands-on experience with AIA applications for payment and related documentation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Fluent in English.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective leadership and team management abilities.
