About the Role

Lead the pre-trade technology team building an in-house cross-asset trading and execution platform. This role requires strong full-stack technical skills to guide team members in delivering high-quality code, establishing best practices, and providing architectural guidance. The position also serves as the London Head of Engineering for the Funding, Treasury and Liquidity organization.

Responsibilities

• Deliver scalable and efficient technology solutions across the Central Funding landscape.
• Lead the design and development of applications supporting repo and securities lending workflows.
• Develop innovative, risk-managed, and maintainable solutions within budget.
• Influence the adoption of modern technologies and methodologies, including AI tools.
• Champion a culture of delegation and empowerment, fostering engineer growth.
• Lead and coordinate globally distributed teams across multiple regions.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to team members.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with developers and stakeholders.
• Maintain high standards of software quality, performance, and reliability.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and platform teams to establish efficient CI/CD pipelines and stable production/DR environments.

Requirements

• Extensive professional software engineering experience, including senior engineering leadership or management roles leading teams of 15 or more people.
• Strong background in system design, architecture, and scalable platform development.
• Experience building distributed systems using message streaming technologies and in-memory data platforms (e.g., Apache Ignite).
• Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies (e.g., Kubernetes).
• Extensive experience in capital markets technology.
• Strong understanding of trading systems including pricing, risk, and order management.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams distributed across multiple regions.
• Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on development with leadership responsibilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging senior audiences.
• Experience driving innovation and adoption of emerging technologies including AI.
