About the Role
Lead the pre-trade technology team building an in-house cross-asset trading and execution platform. This role requires strong full-stack technical skills to guide team members in delivering high-quality code, establishing best practices, and providing architectural guidance. The position also serves as the London Head of Engineering for the Funding, Treasury and Liquidity organization.
Responsibilities
- Deliver scalable and efficient technology solutions across the Central Funding landscape.
- Lead the design and development of applications supporting repo and securities lending workflows.
- Develop innovative, risk-managed, and maintainable solutions within budget.
- Influence the adoption of modern technologies and methodologies, including AI tools.
- Champion a culture of delegation and empowerment, fostering engineer growth.
- Lead and coordinate globally distributed teams across multiple regions.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to team members.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with developers and stakeholders.
- Maintain high standards of software quality, performance, and reliability.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and platform teams to establish efficient CI/CD pipelines and stable production/DR environments.
Requirements
- Extensive professional software engineering experience, including senior engineering leadership or management roles leading teams of 15 or more people.
- Strong background in system design, architecture, and scalable platform development.
- Experience building distributed systems using message streaming technologies and in-memory data platforms (e.g., Apache Ignite).
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies (e.g., Kubernetes).
- Extensive experience in capital markets technology.
- Strong understanding of trading systems including pricing, risk, and order management.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams distributed across multiple regions.
- Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on development with leadership responsibilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging senior audiences.
- Experience driving innovation and adoption of emerging technologies including AI.
