About the Role
The Medical Respite program provides a safe haven for individuals experiencing homelessness to recover from medical conditions. This role oversees daily operations, ensuring resident safety, comfort, and operational efficiency while working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver client-centered services. The initial 30-day training period will be held at various locations, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Responsibilities
- Foster a community of safety, inclusion, and healing aligned with established Medical Respite Care standards.
- Oversee all day-to-day activities during assigned shifts, ensuring smooth operations and compliance with program policies.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents and staff.
- Manage Respite Community Assistants, providing guidance, training, and support.
- Actively participate in weekly case conferencing, team meetings, and process groups.
- Manage Respite Community Assistant call-ins, schedule adjustments, and coverage.
- Coordinate with other supervisors for smooth shift transitions and continuity.
- Ensure proper onboarding for new residents, including orientation to policies and procedures.
- Supervise staff in maintaining the safety and security of residents, staff, and property.
- Oversee accurate and timely completion of incident reports, logs, and other documentation.
- Coordinate meal and laundry services during assigned shifts.
- Oversee resident rounds and respond to immediate needs.
- Assist with activities, including preparation and cleanup.
- Ensure Respite Community Assistants regulate personal belongings and maintain community cleanliness.
- Provide performance feedback to Respite Community Assistants and resolve related issues.
- Assist in monitoring operational costs and managing resources effectively.
- Ensure efficient utilization of respite community resources, including supplies and meal services.
- Ensure critical information is passed on to the next shift supervisor for continuity of care.
- Assist with covering other shifts in case of emergencies or staff shortages.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support community operations.
Requirements
- 3 years of direct service experience in an emergency shelter or homeless services management.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required within 30 days of employment.
- Crisis Intervention Certification required within 30 days of employment.
- Food Handling Certification required within 30 days of employment.
