Responsibilities
- Perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of practices and techniques, and operation of various types of equipment, tools, fixtures and instruments.
- Plan, detail, and execute all tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and installation of plant equipment and structures, including material and equipment requirements.
- Support subcontractor installation and repair efforts.
- Receive instructions, interpret requirements, and perform tasks, ensuring compliance with codes, specifications, and regulations.
- Recommend necessary tooling and equipment to support work.
- Maintain familiarity with plant emergency systems, including alarms and fire fighting systems.
- Perform basic troubleshooting, modification, and repair of plant electrical supply and distribution systems.
- Respond to emergency situations, minimizing health and safety risks and protecting plant property.
- Obtain necessary materials, fixtures, and tools, and operate equipment such as cranes and forklifts to handle parts and equipment.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strictly adhere to start-up, cleaning, and shut-down procedures for all paint equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled inspections of plant equipment, vehicles, cranes, systems, and tooling.
- Maintain required records, both electronic and hard copy.
- Dispose of materials in accordance with regulatory agency requirements.
- Verify calibration dates for all gauges and measuring tools.
- Perform daily safety checks on power vehicles and record findings.
- Wear, clean, and properly maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Participate in necessary training and pass required tests to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency.
- Adhere to all safety precautions when performing work on equipment and plant systems, ensuring proper isolation of electrical devices.
- Observe all safety and shop rules.
- Perform work at heights over 20 feet and utilize articulating boom lifts and other man lifts.
- Assist and train new employees.
- Maintain good housekeeping and a safe work environment by sweeping areas and clearing debris daily.
- Notify supervisor of any unsafe conditions.
Requirements
- Two year college degree with evidence of experience in maintenance applications OR 3-5 years practical experience in a manufacturing facility including familiarity with electrical, electronic and mechanical applications.
- Evidence of formal training in electrical/electronics is required, but may be waived based on practical experience.
- Competent in reading and interpreting drawings.
- Capable of performing simple math calculations (addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication).
- Must pass a written test.
- Must possess a valid New York State driver license with no moving violations for the previous two years and no DWI/DUI convictions.
- Must supply a current DMV report verifying driving record.
