About the Role

The Disney Media Player Engineering team is seeking a Senior Product Software Engineer to design and develop a feature-rich, standard streaming media playback library for Android devices. This role involves creating a layered architecture for media playback that spans across Disney direct-to-consumer brands like Disney+, ESPN, ABC News, and Hulu, ensuring a consistent software architecture and a best-in-class streaming experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement solutions for new features integrating with various Disney media services and back-ends.
  • Collaborate on API design with peer teams and front-end teams.
  • Conduct research and development for media playback experiences, integration, and testing.
  • Participate in project estimation and resource planning.
  • Collaborate within a small development team and the larger engineering organization.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across various platforms.
  • Work independently and collaboratively within a development team.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of industry experience using Kotlin and the Android SDK.
  • Proficiency with Reactive Programming and Dependency Injection.
  • Well-versed in different architectural patterns (MVI/MVVM or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience in the full lifecycle of software development (early stage, maintenance, end of life).
  • Knowledgeable in programming paradigms including Object Oriented and Reactive.
  • Ability to write efficient, reliable, and maintainable code.
  • Experience with unit test frameworks and continuous integration systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
