About the Role
The Vice President, Human Resources provides executive-level leadership and acts as a strategic business partner. This role promotes and implements the organization's core values and mission through strategic planning and management of human resources programs. The position is responsible for developing and executing human capital strategy and maintaining strong relationships with leadership teams and internal customers.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a strategic business partner that develops and leads the Human Resources team in organizational and performance management, succession planning, change management, recruitment, and employee relations.
- Serves as an advisor to the senior leadership team on human capital matters and their impact on organizational culture.
- Assesses, inspires, and develops an HR team to create an innovative HR function that supports the organization.
- Provides leadership and oversight for HR programs and policies, ensuring they are current, competitive, within financial constraints, and legally compliant.
- Establishes and implements HR initiatives that effectively communicate and support the organization’s vision and strategic plan.
- Partners with key personnel, HR business partners, and HR leaders to create, maintain, and revise employee policies.
- Participates in the WVUHS System-wide HR policy committee to represent the hospital.
- Functions as a strategic business partner to leadership teams regarding key organizational and strategic issues.
- Acts as a liaison with WVU Medicine HR Shared Services to deliver high-quality HR services.
- Monitors human resources indicators to identify problem areas and recommends solutions.
- Establishes credibility throughout the organization as an effective listener and problem solver of people issues.
- Provides consultancy, advice, and coaching to all employees.
- Partners with leaders to effectively support, propose, and lead initiatives that embrace a culture of high performance.
- Implements change management plans to meet the continually changing needs of the organization.
- Supports the system-wide HRBP, Employee Relations, and HR Policy committee.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, industrial relations, business administration, or related field required.
- 12-15 years of Human Resources experience.
- At least 7-10 years of prior leadership/people management experience required.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and rulings of governmental agencies including FLSA, EEO, OSHA, Unemployment, and Workers’ Compensation.
