About the Role
This position is responsible for revenue generation through the sale of property and media assets, as well as the creation, development, and implementation of the overall strategic marketing direction of the shopping center. The Director of Marketing and Business Development will market and sell the mall's assets to consumers, advertisers, marketing companies, and the surrounding business community.
Responsibilities
- Identify, create, and sell revenue opportunities through strategic positioning of mall assets, media assets, and mall programming to achieve financial sales goals.
- Develop and implement retailer intensification strategies, promoting platform program opportunities to retailers and securing retailer offers to enhance programming.
- Execute national and/or regional SBV programs and initiatives at the field level.
- Create annual marketing budgets based on retailer dues, allocating expenses to support programming, initiatives, and brand messaging to achieve center objectives. Forecast monthly and maximize marketing dollars by analyzing ROI.
- Develop and execute an annual marketing plan that strategically utilizes platform programs, supports corporate marketing objectives, and positively impacts the center’s core financial objectives.
- Coordinate shopping center visual merchandising, signage, and advertising programs.
- Maintain effective media relations by fielding media calls and preparing responses.
- Drive growth of social media channels, including fan base for Facebook and Instagram, and increase data collection (SMS and Email subscribers).
- Participate in Manager on Duty rotation, staff meetings, and other management responsibilities as a member of the mall management team.
- Demonstrate strong organization and coordination skills.

Requirements
- 4-6 years of previous experience in sales, sponsorship, strategic marketing, event management, and budgeting.
- Knowledge of retail management, marketing, and advertising.
- Working knowledge of the media industry.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, selling, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to use tact and diplomacy when interacting with others.
- Superior computer skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally, visually, and in writing.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules including weekends and evenings.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Some overnight travel required.
