About the Role
The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society seeks a Design Team Intern to assist in bringing the 2027 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show to life. This role offers hands-on experience in design and event production, working alongside industry professionals to translate design documentation into reality. The ideal candidate is design-minded, logistically sharp, and enjoys seeing ideas materialize.
Responsibilities
- Manage graphic production and on-site logistical support.
- Anticipate project needs, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Assist the Design Team in planning and executing the Flower Show.
- Prepare design files for print, coordinate with print shops, and manage printing of various materials.
- Take field measurements and assist in laying out elements on the show floor.
- Coordinate with labor crews for accurate organization and placement of elements.
- Run errands for supplies and printing.
- Support design, production, and site-operations teams with documentation and event tasks.
- Process and interpret data in Excel and translate it into design outputs.
Requirements
- Possess a valid driver's license and willingness to drive a shared vehicle.
- Be a strong, proactive communicator comfortable coordinating with diverse individuals.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Be willing to iterate and assist the team wherever needed.
- Must be fully available for the entire Flower Show period, from set-up to tear-down.
- Must be able to endure extended periods of walking and/or standing.
- Must be able to lift 20lbs.
Skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud programs (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to create graphic decks in Google Slides.
- Comfort preparing print and graphic documents.
- Comfort using measuring tools (e.g., tape measure).
- Proficiency in a 3D modeling program (SketchUp and Layout preferred; CAD, Rhino, or similar also welcome) is a bonus.
