About the Role
The Medical Assistant supports healthcare providers by managing clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring smooth operations within a medical facility. This role involves direct patient interaction, including preparing patients for examinations, taking vital signs, assisting with procedures like phlebotomy and specimen collection, and maintaining a sterile environment. Effective communication is key for managing calls, scheduling appointments, and coordinating with staff. The Medical Assistant contributes to high-quality patient care and team efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs and recording medical histories.
- Assist healthcare providers, including Nurse Practitioners, during medical procedures and examinations.
- Perform phlebotomy and draw blood samples accurately and safely.
- Process and label specimens for laboratory testing following established protocols.
- Sterilize medical instruments and maintain a clean clinical environment to prevent infection.
- Answer phones, schedule patient appointments, and manage patient flow within the clinic.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Support administrative tasks such as billing, coding, and inventory management as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- At least 1 year experience in a Medical office or Healthcare environment
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
- Proficiency in taking and recording vital signs accurately.
- Basic knowledge of medical instruments and sterilization procedures.
- Strong communication skills for patient interaction and administrative duties.
