About the Role
The APP FNP/PA functions as a member of a medical team to provide comprehensive care and education to patients and families. This role assists families in identifying community resources, reducing barriers to access care, and coordinating services for high-risk, multi-problem families.
Responsibilities
- Provide confidential, comprehensive, health care services respectfully and empathetically to all patients.
- Deliver the highest quality of patient-centered care.
- Foster the physical, social, and emotional health of patients and their families.
- Enhance patient access to care.
Requirements
- Must have completed an advanced educational program registered by the New York State Education Department or determined to be equivalent, preparing the registered professional nurse to provide primary health care services.
- Certified or eligible for certification in a specialty including primary health care services (e.g., American Nurses’ Association, The Nurses’ Association of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologist, National Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Associates).
- Graduate of an AMA approved PA program and board eligibility or board certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physical Assistant is required.
- Must possess a current NYS license.
- Adequate knowledge of assigned area as demonstrated by attaining certification by ANA as a Physician Assistant or within two years of employment and maintaining certification.
- BLS through the American Heart Association.
- NYS Infection Control certificate.
Skills
- Ability to work well with patients.
- Ability to deliver nursing care through health promotion teaching or counseling, technical expertise, crisis intervention and evaluation of the client’s response to the nursing interventions.
