About the Role

This role supports critical infrastructure operations by performing moderately complex facility and infrastructure tasks, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient site operations. You will work independently on routine assignments and collaborate with the team to maintain and evolve critical infrastructure that powers the digital world.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, repairs, installations, and inspections across facility and critical infrastructure systems.
  • Monitor the Building Management System (BMS) and resolve alarms requiring judgment while following established procedures.
  • Operate and maintain plumbing, fire suppression, safety, and other facility systems, supporting energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Support operation of critical infrastructure under guidance from senior technical staff.
  • Support vendor work approvals, including pre-work briefings, oversight during execution, and post-work verification.
  • Ensure vendor activities comply with Equinix standards and operating procedures.
  • Partner with vendors to maintain accurate technical documentation, drawings, and asset records.
  • Prepare and maintain site documentation, including permits, MOPs, and scripts.
  • Identify Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and provide mitigation recommendations.
  • Respond to onsite incidents such as equipment failures, service disruptions, and operational issues.
  • Complete work orders, circuit installations, and routine maintenance requests.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain office and auxiliary equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Support minor mechanical, electrical, and system changes, as well as infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams; may provide guidance to peers on general maintenance activities.
  • Communicate inventory needs to maintain optimal stock levels of critical parts and equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2–4 years of hands-on experience in facilities operations, critical infrastructure, or a related technical environment.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, or building systems.
  • Ability to interpret procedures, technical documentation, and work instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot moderately complex issues and exercise sound judgment.
  • Familiarity with site safety practices, permit processes, and change management protocols.
  • Comfortable working independently on routine tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Experience supporting data center, mission-critical, or industrial environments.
  • Exposure to Building Management Systems (BMS) or similar monitoring platforms.
  • Prior experience working with external vendors or service providers.
  • Technical certifications or vocational training in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or facilities-related disciplines.
