About the Role
St. Peter's is seeking a Library Technician to perform general library functions including circulation, Interlibrary Loan (ILL), and assist patrons with inquiries and online searching. This role supports the library needs of the College/School of Nursing, the Acute Care Division, and the St. Peter’s Health Partners system.
Responsibilities
- Check materials in/out, manage holds, and handle new student registration.
- Facilitate resource sharing among health science libraries to provide quick access to requested literature.
- Process inter-library loan requests.
- Shelve and sort books and materials, repair damaged items, and maintain inventory.
- Perform cataloging, labeling, and processing of new books, periodicals, and media.
- Assist users with computers, printers, scanners, and minor hardware troubleshooting.
- Maintain the computer area within the library and the laptop storage area.
- Maintain the digital messaging board with current information.
- Assist students with IT support for software issues.
- Assist the librarian with setting up library events, such as new student orientation, and creating digital content.
- Maintain the testing calendar each semester and act as a proctor for accommodated test takers.
Requirements
- High school graduate with one to three years of related experience OR an Associate Degree in Library and Information Science.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills to assist diverse user groups.
- Possess excellent organization skills with attention to detail.
- Effectively communicate both verbally and in written text, considering specific situations and audiences.
